Ski Guiding

Come with me on my (your) next ski adventure! From Chamonix powder laps to remote multi-day expeditions, I can tailor ski itineraries specific to your interests, fitness level and skill set. I specialize in guiding solo clients (or small groups of experienced skiers) looking to gain additional skills and push themselves in more technical and/or more exposed terrain. The Mont Blanc Massif is my playground. My expertise and knowledge of the area allows me to guide skiers and snowboarders on some of it’s most challenging and iconic descents. Chamonix is not all about extreme skiing however. There really is something for everyone here. Don’t let all the imposing terrain discourage you. Hire an experienced local guide (like myself) and discover what’s possible. There is more here than you can imagine. But also don’t risk going without! Chamonix can be exceptionally dangerous to new and first-time visitors, even if you are an expert skier/snowboarder and/or mountaineer. It is a volatile and unforgiving environment that demands attention, humility, and respect…and local knowledge! If I am not available during your travel dates, I can refer you to several other top quality guides in the area. Options for guided skiing adventures with Tom Grant Guiding are outlined below.

Chamonix Freeride

Do you dream of powder-filled couloirs, making fresh turns in a pristine glacial landscape, or charging through the best and most secluded tree runs? Or have you long wanted to ski the world’s most famous off-piste run, the legendary 20 km long Vallee Blanche? Then look no further. With well over a decade of local knowledge behind me, the Mont Blanc Massif is my backyard and year-round playground. Almost everyday from November to May I’m either guiding clients or searching out the best snow and lines for my own enjoyment. This means I’m able to find the best and safest conditions to suit your ability. No matter what your Freeride level I can tailor an adventure to your requirements. Whether you are an intermediate resort skier and want to cruise down the famous Vallee Blanche, stopping for a relaxing lunch on the way, or are a (ex) pro skier/racer looking for the best and most challenging terrain, I would love to show you my favorite lines.

I place a strong emphasis on finding the best conditions while maintaining a very solid safety margin. Freeriding is full of potential hazards including, but not limited to: avalanche danger, crevasses, serac fall, steep terrain, and cliffs. We will manage and mitigate these risks with every tool in the book and more. Your safety is my priority, first and foremost. Previous off-piste experience is required. Please email me for more details.

Prices start at €600/day. Please send an enquiry for exact quote.

Steep Skiing and
Guided Descents

Not for everyone. Steep Skiing and Guided Descents is for already experienced off-piste skiers looking to get into steep skiing for the first time or to progress their steep skiing skills to the next level. From practicing your first steep turns on a relatively benign couloir to skiing mythical Chamonix classics like the North Face of the Midi, I can match your skill level and ambitions, pushing you just enough while keeping you safe in a serious and dynamic environment. If you are already a strong independent steep skier but lack a suitable partner for your dream objective, then I would love to hear from you. Let’s see what we can do together.

Prices start at €600/day and depend on the objective

Ski Mountaineering

Ski Mountaineering is the pursuit of backcountry skiing where mountaineering techniques are employed. This allows us to scale high alpine peaks in order to access untouched descents and hidden couloirs. This could involve rappelling into lines, climbing with crampons and ice axes, and using a rope to safeguard passages. I cater to a wide variety of abilities and there are objectives throughout the Alps to suit many different tastes and skill sets. From Mont Blanc to Monte Rosa, and many lesser known technical summits, let me take you to the rarefied heights of the Alps with a pair of skis strapped to your back.

Prices depend on the objective; please inquire directly. Previous off-piste experience is mandatory, and some mountaineering experience is very useful
